The world's first UV-C disinfection robot - developed for the pharmaceutical industry

The ‘UVD Robot Pharma’ is the world’s first – and only – fully autonomous disinfection robot specifically designed for UV-C disinfection of cleanroom environments. Engineered with precision to meet the stringent GMP requirements of the pharmaceutical industry, it ensures superior UV-C light disinfection while maintaining full compliance with cleanroom standards. AB Scientific is the selected UK partner for UVD Robots within the pharmaceutical sector.

Studies show that more than 50% of high-touch surfaces are not adequately cleaned and disinfected after manual cleaning.*

Typical Applications

  • Corridors (CNC)
  • Sterile Manufacturing – Class D/C/B
  • Pharmaceutical Production Environment – Class D/C/B
  • Laboratory

Deploying a UVD Robot offers more than just a clean and disinfected environment. UV-C disinfection reduces chemical usage, strengthens your reputation as an innovative employer, and enhances your positioning with cutting-edge UV light technology designed for pharmaceutical excellence.

The Pharma Robot software is compliant with CFR21 Part 11 including operator authentication and audit trail.

Discover the Features of the Pharma Robot

  • Minimises risks and maximises business continuity
  • Optimises workforce efficiency and costs
  • Boosts productivity and expands manufacturing capacity
  • Ensures full regulatory compliance with the CFR21
  • Advances your sustainability goals
  • Achieves operational transparency

Autonomous Robot

UVD Robots have been designed with feedback from specialists involved in cleaning and disinfection procedures with UV light. You choose the log reduction, and the robot will map out the floorplan of your area for easy, traceable disinfection at the click of a button for your operators.

UV-C Light

UV-C light can eliminate microorganisms. UVD Robots are UV-C disinfection solutions for cleaning teams to bring disinfection protocols to a higher level in the environment. They have been designed to the highest safety specifications, yet still offer ease of use and operation. Simply increasing the time the light is on the surface will give you the log reduction you require.

Self-Driving

The germicidal characteristics of UV-C light at close range are well known. However, the laws of physics create obstacles that challenge the feasibility of using UV-C light disinfection in larger areas due to shadows and distances. Only the self-driving UVD Robots can ensure sufficient UV-C amounts are irradiated onto surfaces in an area, whilst remaining outside the cleanroom.

Cameras and Sensors

UVD Robots come with laser scanners and 3D cameras that recognise obstacles on their route. By using the cameras and sensors the operator can navigate the UV-C disinfection via the tablet. In optional manual mode the operator can disinfect and navigate the robot via the tablet.

Safety Features

The robot has multiple safety systems that can be activated by the user depending on the actual environment and type of installation. Safety features ensure that your operators are always safe whilst the UV-C disinfection is on.

Ease of Use

UVD Robots are easy to integrate with existing standard operating procedures and workflows for seamless workflow integration. The intuitive user interface and state of the art technology make installations and training easy, so that onboarding takes just a few hours.

The UVD Robots Fleet Management system also generates detailed disinfection reports including a UV-C exposure map of the disinfected area, exportable as a pdf.

Applications

Fill & Finish Line Area

  • Targeting Common Contaminants: The UVD Robot’s UV-C disinfection technology effectively neutralizes up to 99.9999% of microorganisms, including common threats like Staphylococcus, Micrococcus, and Bacillus.
  • Optimised for Fill & Finish Lines: With its ability to navigate autonomously, the robot disinfects tight spaces and critical equipment areas without interrupting operations or risking contamination during downtime.
  • Maintaining Aseptic Conditions: The UVD Robot ensures the microbial load remains at a minimum in this high-risk environment, crucial for preserving the sterility of pharmaceutical products.
  • Data-Driven Assurance: Equipped with e-logs and CFR 21 compliant reporting tools, the robot provides detailed documentation of every disinfection cycle, helping meet GMP and regulatory compliance for sterile manufacturing zones.
  • Reduced Human Exposure: By automating disinfection in this highly sensitive area, the UVD Robot minimizes the risk of human-borne contamination, especially in zones with frequent personnel activity.

Open Manufacturing Spaces

  • Comprehensive Coverage for Large Spaces: The UVD Robot’s mobility and autonomous navigation make it ideal for disinfecting expansive areas commonly found in CNC environments, ensuring maximum UV-C exposure with little human interaction.
  • Efficient Out-of-Hours Operation: Capable of operating independently during off-hours, the robot reduces human involvement while maximising disinfection efficiency, enabling seamless integration into production schedules.
  • Minimal Disruption to Workflows: Its ability to function with little human interaction allows uninterrupted manufacturing processes during active hours while maintaining a high level of cleanliness.
  • Adaptability to Complex Layouts: Equipped with advanced sensors, the UVD Robot manoeuvres around machinery and obstacles in CNC environments, ensuring even hard-to-reach areas are disinfected effectively.
  • Sustained Hygiene in Controlled Spaces: By neutralizing a wide range of microorganisms, the UVD Robot reinforces hygiene standards in CNC zones, preventing microbial build up that could compromise product quality or worker safety.
