Employee Spotlight June: Mel Peachey

Mel Peachey is our Office Supervisor and Quality Representative.

As a child what did you want to be when you grew up?

A police officer. 

What is your professional background and what drew you to working for AB Scientific?

My professional background mostly involved working for Bedfordshire Police. I started working with crime, mainly in CID for 18 years before moving on to working with the CPS and gathering evidence for Crown Court cases. 

How would your colleagues describe you?

That’s a hard one. I think they think I’m a nice person, reliable and efficient. 

What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?

My husband and I are big film buffs and enjoy watching movies, I love spending time with my family especially my grandson. I also crochet as a hobby as well as making squares and blankets for a charity called Hug in a Blanket, which provides blankets for terminally ill children in hospitals and hospices. I love making the blankets knowing that it puts a smile on the children’s faces, it gives them a piece of their home to take into hospital with them. 

How has AB Scientific allowed you to grow and develop professionally and personally and what do you like best about your role here?

When I started working for AB Scientific in 2019 it was a high point in my career. I felt that I fitted in straightaway due to how welcoming everyone was. This has not changed as the company has grown. I love working as part of the team and people who work for AB are second to none. I know I’m not alone in feeling like its an extended family.
